Difference Between Online and Offline Exams

Difference Between Online and Offline Exams

On the mTalim platform, exams can be conducted in two different formats: online and offline. Understanding the difference between them helps students and parents know what to expect and how to prepare.

Online Exams

Online exams are digital tests that are taken directly inside the mTalim app or website. These exams:

  • Are scheduled by teachers with a specific start and end time.

  • Contain questions that students can answer on their device (phone, tablet, or computer).

  • May include multiple choice, short answer, or other interactive question types.

  • Must be submitted within the given time limit.

  • Are automatically saved and recorded in the system.

  • Can provide instant results, or teachers may choose to publish the grades later.

This format is convenient for remote learning, self-paced tests, and regular assessments without the need to attend school physically.

Offline Exams

Offline exams are traditional, in-person exams that are held at the school building or classroom. Students take these exams using pen and paper, supervised by a teacher or exam coordinator. After the exam:

  • The teacher manually enters the exam results (marks or grades) into the mTalim platform.

  • The exam schedule, subject, and attendance may also be logged into the system.

  • Students and parents can view the exam details and results through their app.

While the test itself happens offline, the performance data is still visible and trackable online through mTalim.
